"The announcement that the INLA have finally decommissioned their weapons is long overdue. This group were responsible for one of the worst atrocities in Northern Ireland's history, the Droppin' Well bomb which killed 17 people in Ballykelly in 1982 as well as many others.
All too often when moves like this occur there is a tendency to forget what was carried out by these groups. ALL of them should decommission their weapons, NONE of them should have been armed and able to murder in the first instance and the regret is that there are still people mourning their previous actions and the heartache they left behind.
Now is the time to ensure that history is not rewritten, just as those who were in the Provisional IRA and the Loyalist paramilitary organisations must not be allowed to try and justify the unjustifiable the same principle must apply to the INLA. As we move to the future we must not forget the past."
