Thomas Buchanan, a native of Drumquin, is the
only candidate in the West Tyrone Parliamentary
field capable of unseating the current absentee
Sinn Fein MP. He has a wealth of experience
having served for 12 years on Omagh District
Council where he topped the poll on his debut.
Thomas is the most highly respected member of Omagh
District Council, and in his capacity as MLA has the
privilege of representing the entire Unionist community
in West Tyrone. A full-time political representative, he
has worked tirelessly to serve the people of Strabane
and Omagh District Council areas, helping individual
constituents and community groups in dealing with a
range of issues.
He is the current Vice-Chairman of both Omagh District
Council and Omagh District Policing Partnership. As well
as holding directorships Thomas is currently part of a
local environmental strategy group and is personally
involved in Protestant Community Development.
He is innovative in directing farm diversification and is a
member of the Omagh 2010 Task Force, dedicated to the
social and economic development of Omagh and District.
Thomas is the DUP West Tyrone spokesman on Health
issues and Hospital services.
Only a vote for the DUP can secure full representation at
Westminster for West Tyrone and deliver a better future
for an area left unrepresented by republicans.
